Annual Girls Learning Day

Today, women remain a distinct minority in science and engineering, representing approximately 10 percent of professionals in these fields. Our Girls Learning Day program encourages girls to pursue future studies in the typically male-dominated fields of sciene and math.

Annually we host 25 inner city girls on the GVSU Annis Water Research Vessel for hands-on water science experiments followed by an interactive program over dinner related to aerospace science.

Annual FocuZ Advocacy Event

Annually the Zonta Club of Grand Rapids hosts an advocacy event featuring a current mission-focused topic.  For the past two years, we have held expert panel discussions on the subject of ending human trafficking.  Michigan ranks 13th in the nation for number of sex trafficking victims.  We support the efforts of the Michigan Human Trafficking Taskforce and the Michigan Women’s Foundation efforts to cease human trafficking in the state and to strengthen the law against trafficking through MAFNAP.
